蘇斯博士 Dr. Seuss

本名希奧多．蘇斯．蓋索（Theodor Seuss Geisel）

1904年出生於美國麻州春田市。1927年，用筆名「蘇斯博士」發表漫畫。27歲寫了第一本童書，但是沒有出版社願意出版。一直到33歲才出版了第一本童書《And to think That I saw it on Mulberry Street》（我在桑樹街上看到的一切，1937）。彼得兔的作者波特女士稱讚這本書是：「她看過最聰明的一本書。」

到1991年過世前，蘇斯博士一共出版了60幾本童書，銷售超過6億5千萬本。還翻譯成四十種語言版本。他生前出版的最後一本書《你要前往的地方！》（Oh,. The Places you’ll Go!）成為全美最受歡迎的畢業禮物，每一年都是暢銷冠軍。

蘇斯博士能寫能畫，創造的人物、故事和藝術風格影響好幾世代的大小讀者。根據他的作品改編成的動畫和電影，也獲得三座奧斯卡獎、二座艾美獎和美國廣播電視的皮博迪獎。

超過半個世紀，蘇斯博士的童書讓千百萬的孩子愛上閱讀，現在每年在他的生日 3 月 2 日，全球有超過六千萬的人一起用閱讀的方式來紀念蘇斯博士。他們到學校唸書給孩子聽，用實際行動讓閱讀從小扎根。

得獎紀錄：
1948年 《McElligot’s Pool》獲得凱迪克銀獎。
1950年 《Bartholomew and the Oobleck》獲得凱迪克銀獎。
1951年 《If I ran the Zoo》獲得凱迪克銀獎。
1984年 獲得「普立茲特別貢獻獎」。表揚蘇斯博士對美國兒童教育的貢獻。

Ching-Yen Liu has been telling, translating and writing stories for over thirty years. He has won many literary awards including the Good Books for Everyone Award Best Children’s Books of the Year, the Feng Zikai Chinese Children's Picture Book Award, and the China Times Open Book Award. Liu is also a three-time Golden Bell winner. His most important works include The Taste of Cherry Tomatoes and The Smiling Police Officer.

生於臺南麻豆，祖籍江蘇鎮江。臺灣大學森林系畢業，在美國分獲雪城大學教育碩士、波士頓西蒙絲學院兒童文學碩士，以及麻州大學傳播系博士，現任紐約大學專業學院媒體學教授，為國內資深兒童文學創作者。

自大學三年級起，即開始發表童詩、童話和圖畫故事。作品〈小紅〉曾獲《中國時報》文學獎童話首獎，《 * 的故事》獲兒童文學協會金龍獎，《葉子鳥》獲信誼基金會評選委員獎及金鼎獎優良圖書等榮譽。中、英文兒童文學著作及譯作近四十本。

Born and raised in Taiwan, Chyng Sun, Ph.D., is a documentary filmmaker and a Clinical Professor of Media Studies at the School of Professional Studies at New York University.

She is also a children's book writer in both Chinese and English, published in Taiwan, China, Korea, New Zealand, and the U.S.

She has written and translated over 40 children's books, and has won numerous national awards in Taiwan. She received master’s degrees in Education (Syracuse University), and Children’s Literature (Simmons College), and earned her doctorate from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
